Our Purpose

Founded in 2013, Meadow Farm Community Land Trust (MFCLT) is a 28-acre nonprofit dedicated to sustainable living, soil health, affordable housing, and community resilience. Through volunteer effort and love for the land, we work toward a peaceful, regenerative, and self-reliant future for our coastal community.

Focus Areas

Regenerative Land Stewardship
We nurture healthy soil, forest, and meadow ecosystems through organic farming, permaculture, and carbon-sequestering practices. Meadow Farm has participated in the USDA’s Healthy Soils Program, improving soil health and supporting climate resilience on the Mendocino Coast.

Affordable, Sustainable Housing

Our goal is to provide housing that supports low- to moderate-income residents dedicated to sustainable living.
One current project, This Little House, was generously donated by a local woman and relocated to the farm in 2022. The cozy, solar-ready home features natural materials and insulation, and will provide affordable housing for future residents once completed. Donations of funds, materials, or skilled labor help bring this vision to life.

Community Resilience & Disaster Preparedness

Meadow Farm is a designated Public Hub through the Hubs and Routes program, strengthening local networks for emergency response. We partner with community agencies to prepare for disasters, promote food and water security, and provide safe shelter when needed.

Food Security & Education

We grow and share organic produce with residents and the local community. Our educational programs and workshops focus on practical sustainability skills such as natural building, permaculture, composting, vegan cooking, water conservation, and nonviolent communication.

Volunteer-Led Governance

Our Leadership Circle (Board of Directors) uses Sociocracy, a consent-based governance model. Meadow Farm is run entirely by volunteers, there are no paid positions, and we welcome both local helpers and travelers through internships and work away programs. Every act of service helps sustain the farm and community for future generation
